With water logging affecting residents of the 800-home Al Furjan community, developer Nakheel has finally clarified the matter, stating the irrigation system is the issue.

In a media statement, the developer of projects such as the Palm and World islands, Nakheel said: “This excess water was caused by an issue with the community irrigation system.

“We are currently investigating the specific cause, and will rectify the situation as soon as possible.

“In the meantime, we apologise for any inconvenience.”

It added: “Al Furjan is a newly-completed community.  As with all new developments, any necessary repairs or modifications to infrastructure services and facilities will be carried out under the main contractor’s warranty.”

The handover of the Al Furjan complex was done as early as last month.

Meanwhile, Al Furjan isn’t the only community that has complained of flooding.

Residents of the Gardens community incurred flooding last week, nearly six weeks after 16 million gallons of water submerged cars and most of the areas after a water main burst in the middle of the night.

Earlier this week, residents of International City also complained of water logging, with Malik Javed Awan tweeting an image of his neighbourhood today.
