Ivory worth $3 million seized at Dubai Airport

Security officials at Dubai International Airport have seized 84 pieces of ivory weighing 300kg.

Brigadier General Ali Ateeq Bin Lahej, chief of airport security in Dubai Police chief, said the ivory was seized during transit from Ivory Coast in Africa to Vietnam.

Brigadier Bin Lahej estimated the market value of the shipment of ivory at about $ 3 million.

He said 40 elephants of different ages must have been killed to obtain the quantity of raw ivory seized at Dubai Airport.
