A jobless Egyptian allegedly possessed 5,179 tablets of Tramadol and 10 tablets of clonazepam for promotional purpose, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The prosecution also acused OAS, 26, of having 50 tablets of Tramadol for personal use and of taking Tramadol.

Lieutenant Salmin Hamad testified that following a tip that OAS sells Tramadol, police arrested him at Al Mulla Plaza on June 11 at around 3.30pm.

Searching him police confiscated 30 tablets in his trousers pocket. In his car, 360 tablets were confiscated. OAS initially claimed that he possessed Tramadol for personal use then later confessed to selling ten tablets for Dh100. He confessed to selling Tramadol since long time and that he possessed 4,000 tablets in his flat in Sharjah, testified the officer.

Lieutenant Khaled Mohammed testified that police confiscated large quantity of Tramadol boxes hidden in two bags in wardrobes.

“The accused claimed that the drug belong to a friend whose name he did not mention. Then confessed to receiving the drug from a friend a week ago in order to sell them to addicts and that he sends the money to his friend in Egypt. The room that he claimed was of his friend did not seems to be used by anyone,” he testified.
