A jobless Iranian who allegedly threatened a compatriot housewife to defame her by publishing lewd pictures and videos if she did not agree to an illicit affair with him, was acquitted by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance for lack of evidence.

The Dubai Prosecution had accused MHA, 29, of threatening NJG, 23, housewife, to publish immoral pictures and videos of her if she did not agree to an illicit affair with him. He was also accused of making annoying  telephone calls to her. The court acquitted him of both charges because of lack of sufficient evidence.

According to the records, the victim testified that while she was returning home in her car with her sons, she noticed a driver pointing at her when she stopped at a traffic signal.

“The driver asked me to open the window, but I ignored him.  He followed me to my house and repeated the request, so I did. He asked me if I am divorced. I answered him ‘No’ and asked him why he is asking these questions. Instead of replying, he asked me to be his girlfriend and mentioned my husband’s and sons’ names and told me that he had pictures and videos of me that show my relationships with male friends. He gave me his phone number and asked me to call him.

“I did not call him the next day but at around 9pm I went with my friend SIJ and my sons to the Al Mamzar area. I was surprised to see him there. He approached us and asked me why I had not not called him. This time he claimed that he had pictures and videos of my friend as well. We ignored him and drove away but he followed us to my home.

“The next day I called him and asked him to prove his claims by showing us the materials he had. He asked me to meet him at a petrol station in the Bu Hail area. I refused and changed the place to Al Mulla Plaza. I went with my friend and met him there. He asked us to ride his car with one of us in the front seat. I refused but my friend SIJ did. We found out that he is lying. The next day he called me and asked me to meet him alone. I refused and informed my husband who notified the police,” she testified.

SIJ, 21, housewife, repeated the same testimony.

The technical report proved him sending NJG SMSes from two mobiles threatening her and seeking an illicit affair besides 24 phone calls from May 29 to June 3.

The accused denied the charges in court.
