Killer crushes victim's body under his car

Published

The UAE’s top court sentenced a man to death after he was convicted of murdering another man by crushing his body by his car following a fight in Sharjah, according to an official statement.

At its session last week, the Federal Supreme Court (FSC) said the unnamed defendant would be executed once the verdict is endorsed by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan after the victim’s family insisted on capital punishment in line with Islamic law.

The defendant had confessed to having knocked the man over by his car and hitting him again to make sure he was dead following a fight last year.

Lower courts had earlier sentenced the defendant to death, prompting him to appeal with the FSC, which upheld those verdicts.

Executions in the UAE are normally carried out by firing squads.
