Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) re-opens registration for those wishing to enrol their children in kindergarten and public schools in Abu Dhabi for the academic year 2014-2015.

According to the education regulatory authority, Emiratis and expats are urged to register their children between June 2-13 for the new academic year.

“Our main concern is to enable students, who were unable to register due to unavoidable conditions, and to facilitate the registration of students transferred from other emirates to Abu Dhabi,” said Amal Al Qubaisi, Director General of Adec.

The authority urged parents to work within the specified enrolment period as it would streamline the admission process without disruption or delay.

Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, executive director of school operations at Adec, said enrolment process will be carried out through various electronic systems to facilitate the registration and ensure accuracy of data.

“The new registration process via Emirates ID allows school staff and parents save time and minimizes the use of paper. Only documents showing student home address is needed.”

Al Dhaheri emphasized that during the current registration period, the use of Emirates IDs has helped ensure the accuracy of information fed into eSIS and consequently resulted in quick and authenticated student registration.

Students wishing to transfer from private or public schools or technical institutions to Adec schools shall reserve a seat for 2014-2015 school year online or by visiting the school.

Adec also announced that the child’s age for admission at KG1 shall be 4 years on December 31 of the admission year. As for KG2, the age shall be 5 years on the same date.

For Grade-1, the minimum age shall be 6 years while the maximum age shall be 8 years on December 31 of the admission year.

Parents are urged to register their children in schools located in their residential area.
