Labour Ministry waives fines in Eid

Private sector enterprises will not be fined for delay in documentations during Eid Al Adha holidays.

If the last day for renewal of labour cards, trade licences, work permits or any such transactions happens to fall during the holiday period, firms will not be fined for the same, according to the Ministry of Labour, reported 'Al Ittihad' newspaper.

However, if the process is not initiated immediately after the holidays, the firms will be penalised, the source from the ministry said. Only documentations that will expire during the holiday period will be exempt from fines, he added.

Meanwhile, the contact centre at the Ministry of Labour will not receive inquiries, complaints or encourage consultations between November 15 and 17. It will resume regular work on November 18.
