The Federal Supreme Court suspended a lawyer for two months after he was accused of failing to perform his duty towards a client in a dud cheque court case, a newspaper reported on Monday.

The court upheld a previous ruling by an appeals court in Sharjah suspending the unnamed solicitor on the grounds he failed to do his job properly although he was fully paid by his client, the Arabic language daily Alkhaleej said.

The lawyer was accused by a company owner that he “failed to perform his duty” in the case involving bounced cheques given to the firm.

“The lawyer also refused to return the fees he received from the company owner…the federal supreme court issued its sentence on Oct 11.”
