A four-year old Egyptian boy died on the spot after he fell from the eighth-floor balcony of his building behind GMC Hospital in Al Nuaimia area of Ajman.

Colonel Rashid Mujlad, Director of Police Operations, said the child was alone in the apartment as his father had gone to Abu Dhabi on duty and the mother for the Traweeh prayer around 9.30pm, leaving the child, who was sleeping, alone in the apartment.

The boy might have walked to the balcony after he woke up and tried to look down and fell over the rails, the police suspect.

The boy was taken to GMC Hospital by passersby. The police was notified by the hospital’s duty doctor who said the boy was already dead when he was brought to the hospital.

Colonel Rashid Mujlad, Director of Police Operations, was quoted in the press as saying, “Parents should not leave the sleeping children alone in the house if they are going.”

This is the second accident of this kind in Ajman this year, according to Khaleej Times.

Earlier, a two-year old boy died and his four-year old sister sustained severe injuries after they fell from the third-floor balcony of their apartment in the same area. They were also left alone by their parents as they were sleeping.
