For those who cannot wait till November to find out what Dubai will look like when Dubai Tram is sharing its roads, an actual Dubai Tram stand will be put up at Dubai Marina Mall this weekend.

Themed the Dubai Tram Experience, the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) will ‘Talk Tram’ at the dedicated Dubai Tram stand in Marina Mall on Friday and Saturday morning from 10am to 11pm.

“If you have been curious about the Tram, then visit the stand,” the RTA writes.

It is the second time a dedicated tram stand will be put up; earlier residents and visitors in Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) were treated with a similar introduction to the new transport mode.

On January 17, the first test rides of Dubai Tram commenced in the area around the tram depot in Al Sufouh. Since then, the tram officially became a road user in the emirate, although passengers are not yet allowed to ride the tram.

Once the tram becomes operative in November, it will run its full schedule on the first phase route, which extends 10.6km starting from the Dubai Marina and stretching up to the Tram Depot near Dubai Police Academy. Once the project is completed, the tram will cross a 14.6km track alongside Al Sufouh Road.

“The tram track intersects with vehicular and pedestrian traffic at certain points; which warrants motorists in particular and road users in general to be more attentive and compliant with the rules and regulations governing the tram operation, and adhere to the directional signage in place to ensure streamlined traffic movement,” explained Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman at the RTA earlier.

“The campaign was conceived to create awareness amidst general public regarding the tram services,” said the RTA. At the stand, promoters will distribute Dubai Tram brochures and educate people about its operation, services and benefits at large.
