The aviation industry in Dubai is growing at a phenomenal rate and with this upward trajectory comes an increase in demand for people to join the sector.

Besides the leading airlines, a major employer in the industry is Dubai Airports (DA), and it is now pushing its recruitment activity further through a new recruitment platform, giving more options to candidates.

DA, operator of Dubai International and Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central, has teamed up with Cazar, a recruitment solution provider & employer branding firm, to launch their new career website.

Dubai Airports recently announced a $32 billion expansion to build the world’s biggest airport that will serve as a global gateway for an expected 200 million passengers annually by the end of the next decade.

These plans, in which recruitment is a strategic part, have fuelled the launch of DA’s new bespoke mobile-responsive career portal (https://careers.dubaiairports.ae). Designed to attract top talent, it is the central hub for all hiring needs.

According to an Oxford Economics report, the aviation sector supports 224,000 jobs in the UAE, including 141,000 jobs directly supported by the aviation sector, and will provide more than 400,000 new jobs in various disciplines directly and indirectly in the next 20 years.

With the expansion plans underway, by 2020 aviation supported employment numbers will grow to more than 750,000 jobs & the sector will contribute $53.1 billion or 37.5 per cent of the emirate's GDP.

Furthermore, with passenger traffic increasing by 15 per cent year-on-year at Dubai International, demand for talent is only likely to shoot up to handle both current and future talent requirements.

A recent report by Barclays shows that passenger traffic through Dubai’s airport rose 9.9 per cent y-o-y in the first nine months of the year to 52.4, up from 49.4million last year.

Dubai Airports World expects it to grow to 78.4m in 2015 and 103.5 m in 2020, compared with 57.7m in 2012.

In parallel, tourism continues to flourish with the number of hotel guests increasing by 26 per cent y-o-y in the first half of the year. Meanwhile trade activity through Dubai’s ports, airports and free zones accelerated.

Meshari Al Bannai, VP of Human Resources at Dubai Airports explains, “You can only build the best if you work with the best. Our focus is clear - attract top Emirati and global talent. Our growth and success cannot be achieved without the right people. DA’s career website and platform is instrumental in achieving this.”

Prior to the recruitment platform, DA’s hiring was done traditionally. Now the entire process is seamless, online and mobile – from the application, to scheduling interviews and onboarding new hires.
