Maid gets one year for baby’s death
A criminal court in Fujairah sentenced an Asian housemaid to one year in prison for causing the death of her infant after she got pregnant through an illegitimate relationship, the Arabic language daily Emarat Alyoum said on Wednesday.
The maid aborted her infant and placed him in a plastic pot in the toilet at her employer’s house in the city, the paper said.
“Her employer found the baby and informed the police….she was sentenced to one year in jail and fined Dh1,000 for accidentally killing the baby,” it said.
Her boyfriend, also Asian, was sentenced to six months in prison for adultery.
