Maid kills Dubai sponsor's baby to go on leave

An Asian couple was shocked to see their baby girl dead at their home in Al Qusais, Dubai, when they returned from work one evening.

According to a report in Emarat Al Youm, the couple’s Nepalese maid strangled the 11-month old baby, because she thought getting rid of the toddler would enable her to proceed on holiday.

Initially, the 20-year-old maid denied the accusation. However, on further questioning, she confessed to strangling the child because she wanted to go back home.

Forensic report has confirmed that the baby died of strangulation.

When the maid asked for leave, the couple requested her to wait for some time as the child’s mother had taken up a job just five months back and could not avail leave to babysit, the report added.

The suspect has been referred to Public Prosecution.
