Maid seriously hurt in gas blast in Fujairah

An Asian housemaid suffered from serious injuries after a gas cylinder exploded in the kitchen at her employer’s house in Fujairah.

The maid was preparing breakfast for her employing family in the eastern emirate when the explosion occurred inside the kitchen.

Police said the maid was in critical condition when she was admitted in hospital with fourth grade burns in various parts of her body.

A police source said an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blast.
