Major fire breaks out in Umm Ramool warehouse

A major broke out today evening at a warehouse in Umm Ramool Industrial Area in Dubai, eye witnesses said.

Fire fighters had rushed to the scene to put out fire so that it may not spread to other neighbouring warehouses in Umm Ramool Industrial Area in Eastern Dubai.

According to eye witness accounts, the smoke from the warehouse fire could be seen miles away. However, there were no immediately report of casualties.

Fire incidents have become a common feature in warehouses and industrial areas particularly in the emirate of Sharjah of late despite repeated warnings to companies from the civil defence authorities to strictly implement safety measures in their facilities.

Last week, a major fire gutted a tyre shop in the Al Nahda area of Sharjah, causing dark fumes over the horizon.
