Persons who add make-up or getting dressed inside the car while driving in the UAE will be fined Dh1,000 and have 12 black points added to their traffic record, according to Dubai’s police commander assistant.

Major General Mohammed Al Zafin also said there are plans to introduce a new penalty against persons caught smoking shisha while driving on the grounds this practice is dangerous and could cause road accidents.

He said the latest rules introduced by the federal traffic council include penalties against those who add make-up, comb their hair, getting dressed or even adjust their necktie while driving since such practices detract drivers and result in accidents.

“Those involved in such practices while driving will be fined Dh1,000 and have 12 black points added to their traffic record,” he said, quoted by Dubai-based Albayan daily.

“We are also planning to present a proposal to the council to introduce a penalty against those who smoke shisha inside the car while driving…police men can penalize these drivers for failure to concentrate on the road by using shisha….fines in this category could be Dh500, including using a mobile phone while driving.,”
