Man crushed to death after falling asleep under truck

An Asian worker was crushed to death after falling asleep under a truck at noon and its driver told police later that he did not know about the accident.

Police called to a random truck parking in Al Qusais on Monday at noon found the worker lying dead in a pool of blood after his head was crushed by the truck’s heavy tyres.

Investigation later led to the arrest of the driver, who appeared shocked at what the police told him, according to local newspapers.

“The driver said he did not notice anyone was lying under his truck and that he did not feel the tryes hit anyone,” said Colonel Salim Al Rumaithi, CID’s deputy director.

He said the worker’s friends said they saw him going under the truck for a nap after he felt tired, adding that he had apparently did not think the truck might move at any time.
