Man gets 6 months in exchange of fake rupees
The Dubai Criminal Court awarded six months in jail to a Bangladeshi cleaner for possessing fake Rs100,000 in Rs1,000 notes.
YJ, 28, was also ordered deportated after serving his jail term.
According to the records YJ visited Emirates Exchange and submitted Rs100,000 asking to exchange it with the UAE currency.
Leojivik Junior Alis Francisco, 36, Filipino clerk in the company suspected the notes upon touching them.
“I asked the customer to wait until finishing his transaction… I notified my senior and after being sure that they were fake the police were informed,” he testified.
Forensic reported that the notes subject of the case were fake with high level of accuracy that an ordinary person can be deceived.
