Man jailed, to be deported for attempted murder

An Abu criminal court sentenced an Asian expatriate for one year in prison and ordered his deportation after he was convicted of trying to murder his friend, press reports said on Saturday.

Armed with a knife, the unnamed expatriate attacked his friend and stabbed him many times before he was overpowered by passers by, the semi official daily Alittihad said.

“The victim was seriously wounded and the court considered this as an attempted murder,” it said. “It sentenced the defendant to one year in jail and ordered his deportation after serving his term.
