Man run over by teen in Sharjah dies

Teenager who ran over a 50-year-old Syrian man in Al Dhaid and fled the scene has been arrested by Sharjah Police.

The man was taken to hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the second day.

The 16-year-old ran over him while he was crossing Al Dhaid Road towards Washa area. Police team followed leads given by eye-witnesses and tracked the car to a garage.

The teenager confessed he had been driving at high speed, when the man suddenly crossed the road and he lost control of the vehicle and ran over him.

Sharjah Police has urged pedestrians to avoid jaywalking.
