Man sitting next to dead passenger arrested at airport… not for murder

A confused and worried transit passenger sitting next to a dead man onboard a flight was arrested at Dubai airport upon arrival, not on murder charges but for hiding drugs in his stomach, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Wednesday.

After hiding 47 capsules of cocaine in his stomach, the accused – Nigerian national – arrived at Dubai International airport from Brazil.

When plane landed on April 9 at around 9.30am, pilot informed airport authorities about a dead passenger in the plane.

Police officers were rushed to the plane, who noticed a passenger sitting next to the deceased, looking worried and confused.

The officers took the transit passenger, PO, 29, Nigerian, for X-Ray checking where results showed abnormal material in his digestive organ.

During investigation, he admitted to carrying cocaine capsules in his digestive organ.

The passenger was taken to Rashid Hospital where he released 47 capsules that contained a total of 772.11 grams of drugs.
