Man survives 30-metre fall in well

An Asian construction worker plunged nearly 30 metres into a deserted well in Fujeirah but was rescued with light injuries, press reports said on Wednesday.

The man was surveying a deserted school site for a new construction project when he fell into the well which contained wood and other debris.

“He did not notice the wellhead as it was covered with wood…he fell down but we used advanced equipment to lift him out,” said Colonel Ali Obaid Al Tinaiji, director of the Fujeirah civil defence.
