A Dubai court has sentenced an Indian man to six months in jail for assaulting and robbing a real estate agent.

The man identified as MSK, a 23-year-old who worked as a cleaner, made a call to Al Zubair Real Estate pretending to be responding to their advertisement to rent out a villa on May 5.

As agreed by the two parties, they met at the villa at around 8 pm where the real estate agent Bati Mohammed Konhim, 29, also an Indian, met MSK who had turned up with two others.

Once inside the villa, the three men overpowered the agent and assaulted him before fleeing with his wallet containing Dh2050 and his labour card.

While a passerby managed to get hold of MSK, the other two got away and could never be tracked down.

The convict will be deported after serving the sentence, the court ordered.
