Two east Europeans on the death row for killing an Indian salesman and robbing Dh5 million worth of diamonds from him have lost their second plea to get their sentences commuted.

Presiding Judge Eisa Al Sharif of Dubai Appeal Court on Sunday upheld the primary court’s verdict.

The Indian salesman AB was killed in 2001 by the two men SA, a 31-year-old Russian, and Sn, a 35-year-old Ukranian.

In their plea to commute the death sentences awarded to them, the convicts had presented a letter from their victim’s family who declared they had forgiven them for the act. A blood money of Dh150,000 was already paid to the victim’s family.

The Dubai Court of First Instance had in October rejected the convicts’ plea to commute their sentences although they claimed that the blood money was paid.
