A Saudi girl whose life is threatened by a serious bone problem has been admitted to a London hospital for treatment after in response to a gesture by General Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, who will pay all the medical expenses.
General Mohammed ordered the transfer of 18-year-old Noura to London urgently and offered to pay all expenses for her transport, stay and treatment after the girl’s case was published in the Saudi Arabic language daily Sabq.
“We thank General Mohammed enough… after my sister’s case was published, we were contacted by the office of General Mohammed who offered us to have her treated in any country of the world,” her brother told the paper.
“We felt embarrassed at first to dictate the country where Noura will be treated and left the choice for General Mohammed… but his office contacted us again and said it is up to us to decide on any place on the world… after their insistence and following medical consultations with hospitals here, we decided to take Noura to Wellington Hospital in London… she was flown on Saturday.”
He said the UAE embassy, at General Mohammed’s instructions, sent representatives and an ambulance to London’s Heathrow airport to receive Noura.
“The office of General Mohammed assured us again that he will bear all costs of her treatment and stay plus the expenses of those who are accompanying her… they even told us that after her return to Saudi Arabia, he will pay any sum needed to secure a medical team for my sister,” he said.
Sabq said Noura has been suffering most of her life from what it described as bone curvature, adding that her heart is threatened by such a problem and could stop any time without proper treatment.

The visit by General Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commanderof the UAE Armed Forces, to Malaysia emphasises the solid relations and ties between the two friendly peoples, said Najib Tun Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia.
He expressed his pleasure at the extensive and fruitful discussions, which ranged from bilateral relations to cooperation in trade and investment and said both leaders had agreed that there was huge potential for greater collaboration.
He said that sustainable investment in important high-impact projects was vital to Malaysia's long-term economic and social growth, while the RM18 billion strategic partnership to promote new economic initiatives would spur billions of ringgit in the long-term sustainable investments in Malaysia and the RM21 billion storage facility in Tanjung Piai, with the capacity to store 60 million barrels of crude oil and petroleum, would spur significant economic activities.
He described the project as a vote of confidence in the strength and long-term stability of Malaysia and its economy and in the growing partnership between the two countries.
He said that while other parts of the world remained in economic doldrums, Malaysia's economy was roaring ahead, enjoying robust growth, low unemployment, low inflation and sustainable debt levels.
"With the projects such as those announced today, which will create hundreds of thousands of well-paying new jobs for Malaysians, we can be assured that our country is well on the way to becoming a developed nation by 2020," Najib said.
He added that both countries should identify areas where they could work together to create tangible benefits for the two nations.
He said the UAE was Malaysia's most important trading partner in the Gulf region, with trade in the 11 months last year touching RM24.8bn, up 18 per cent than in 2011.
