MoL's new unit to help boost emiratisation

Ministry of Labour's new department set up to handle labour market information  held its first meeting at the ministry's headquarters on Monday. The department aims to develop policies to boost emiratisation.

Youssuf Abdel Ghani, Assistant Undersecretary for Policy Affairs, Ministry of Labour, said: "The project steering committee of the department met to discuss steps that will help regulate and control the labour market in the UAE as per the agreement signed between the ministry and the World Bank earlier."

The department will consolidate information about the labour market from various sources such as business surveys, researches, etc, and use the same to draft policies for decision-making.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the labour ministry, project partners Tanmia - The National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, the Abu Dhabi emariratisation council and the National Center for Statistics in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Representatives of various free zones, Ministry of Education, General Authority for Pensions and Social Security and Federal Human Resources also attended along with experts from the World Bank, who shared their experiences from across the world.
