Use of e-service portals across all government departments recorded an increase in traffic this year.

More than two million passengers used electronic gates at the Dubai International Airport during the first 10 months of this year.

Major-General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General, Dubai Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs, said 2970,145 people used the e-gates until end-October, which is an increase of 217,381 passengers from 2009.

Similarly, 89,0120 e-cards were issued during the period, he added. E-transactions at Dubai Health Authority during the period as about 644,420. Meanwhile, the number of transactions of Tabadol service at the Ministry of Labour was about 31,561, according to Al Marri. And the number of visitors to the ministry website hit 2,000,071, while the number of transactions completed through the default service was about 2,747,392, he added.

About 617,024 people used e-services to cross UAE borders during the first 10 months of this year. While number of transactions completed at the seven self-service kiosks in Dubai was 30,0254.

Al Marri lauded the efforts of staff for their hard work to implement modern technology to enhance customer service. Employees will be regularly trained, he added.

Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Khalid Nasser Al Razouqi, Assistant Director, e-service department, said: "The department seeks to provide and harness latest technology to ease procedures for the public."

Al Marri was also accompanied by Brigadier Obaid bin Suroor, Deputy Director of the department and Col Awad Al Awim, Assistant Director for Administrative and Financial Affairs on his tour of the department.
