Motorists urged not to use phones while driving

A top police official cautioned motorists of the dangers of using mobile phones while driving.

Brigadier Mohammed Saif Al Zaffin, Director, General Department Traffic, Dubai Police, said when drivers use mobile phones they are distracted and lose control of the vehicle leading to accidents.

Use of BlackBerry and iPhones are a common feature of late, he added. Typingmessages while at the wheels can prove very costly, said Al  Zaffin. 

Most drivers who use such devices while on the road are tech-savvy youngsters, who would not have much experience driving either. And this leads to more mishaps.
