Mountaineer falls to death in RAK

A Western tourist with an apparent hobby of climbing mountains fell to his death while on a trip to rugged hills in Ras Al Khaimah.

Police used a helicopter to locate the body of the 31-year-old tourist in Ghalila mountains on Wednesday morning.

Police said they had combed the area the night before but could not find the body, adding that they had launched a search campaign after receiving a report that the man went missing and was not answering his mobile phone.

They said the man, identified only as TGM, was on a mountain trip alone.
