A muezzin was fined Dh2,000 for physically assaulting and injuring a worker in the mosque.
However, the worker was also fined the same amount for fighting back.
The Misdemeanour Court also acquitted the muezzin, identified as RSB, 41, an Emirati and the worker, SSY 56, an Iraqi, from accusations of verbal abuse.
The plaintiff, SSY, expressed shock at the verdict as in his testimony he said he was unconscious after the fight and was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) for 12 hours.
According to the prosecution, SSY also complained about being subject to repeated threats by the accused.
A medical report from Rashid Hospital stated that SSY suffered a swelling on his head and was completely unconscious.
The report also said that SSY sustained scratches on his neck and bruises on his left knee, but clarified that these injuries could have happened earlier than when he was admitted.
The accused and the plaintiff also fought in court during a previous hearing of the case.
The presiding judge Hamdi Mustafa Abu Al Khair had to ask the police to intervene.
The accused did not attend the verdict hearing, but the sentence was read out to his lawyer.
The mosque where the two work is in Al Barsha 3 and the incident took place on May 12.
