The UAE National Archives, NA, has launched a charity initiative, in co-operation with the Abu Dhabi branch of the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, to construct five mosques and dig two wells outside the UAE, as part of the Year of Giving initiative.

Under the mosque building project, dubbed as "The National Archives Mosques," five new mosques, with an individual capacity of 800 people, will be built in Mauritania, Somalia, Burkina Faso, Mali and India, while the two wells will be built in India and Mali.

The NA thanked the ERC for its co-operation and its employees for their generous donations. It also expressed its appreciation for their generous giving, which is part of their social responsibility for humanitarian and charity work.

The NA considers this type of charity and humanitarian work as the best way of representing the ideal image of the UAE, which was created by the founding leader, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who has been known for his unlimited generosity, and President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is following in his father's footsteps, along with Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates - efforts that have made the UAE the largest donor country in the world.

Coinciding with the Year of Giving initiative, the NA also organised the "Plate of Giving" initiative at its headquarters, as part of a series of community and humanitarian initiatives.
