New interior designing competition launched in GCC

A new competition has been launched for interior designing competition catering to senior collegiate and graduate interior design students coming from the GCC region.

The competition is aimed at showcasing the unique talent and creativity of the region’s interior design industry and is also part of the UAE’s move to commemorate World Interiors Day 2012. The leading company is set to give away prizes with a total value of over Dh85,000. The winners will be announced in May.

The competition is open to any senior or graduate interior design student coming from any college or university within the GCC region. The competition will be accepting individual entries and entries made by a group with a maximum of four members. Deadline for the registration of entries will be on March 20, 2012, while the deadline of the submission of entries will be on May 8, 2012. The competition is split into two categories; the first is for the design of a reception lounge for a small private museum housing a collection of Middle Eastern contemporary art while the second category is for the design of a display fixture.

To date, several universities have already expressed their interest in taking part of the competition. These academic institutions include American University in Dubai, American University in Sharjah, Ajman Institute of Science and Technology, Al Ghurair University, Al Hosn University, Manipal University and Sharjah University.

Registration must occur online at www.competition.apid.ae. Completed entries will be uploaded by 1:00pm on May 8, 2012, through the competition link hosted on the APID website using: www.competition.apid.ae
