The Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi, has announced the opening of a new customer service centre, known as the Electra Branch, located on Zayed the First Street.

The new centre is located at the intersection of Zayed the First Street (known as Electra) and Bani Yas Street (known as Al Najda Street) and opens for business from Saturday to Thursday from 8am to 8pm.

Residents in areas where the Mawaqif system is implemented can apply for parking permits at customer service centres. Residents' permits allow motorists to park in any available standard parking bay in the area where they reside.

By clearly displaying the permit on the vehicle dashboard, they will be exempt from paying hourly or daily tariffs at the parking meters. This permit is available to owners or tenants and their first direct relative residing with them, such as mothers, fathers, spouses and children, with a maximum of two permits per household. Each permit is sector and vehicle specific.

To apply for a parking permit, residents must submit copies of their National ID, passport with valid residency visa, lease contract or residency ownership proof, last water and electricity bill, municipal registered ternary contracts, proof of vehicle ownership and relationship of the vehicle owner, if different from the tenancy contract. Annual fees for the resident permits are Dh800 for the first vehicle and Dh1,200 for the second vehicle.
