New social programme offers post-retirement discounts in UAE

You may be 60 but that should not be your way out of your current lifestyle in the UAE. A new initiative now offers all sorts of deals and offers – from hotel rooms to travel packages to make life more beautiful during the golden years.

Abu Dhabi Retirement Pensions and Benefits Fund has announced the launch of the Mazaya programme for discounts, which is a work in progress and hopes to be able to continuously add details of new discounts and benefits available to senior citizens.

The primary aim of the programme is to introduce discounts and special services to contribute towards maintaining the standard of living post-retirement.

To avail of the discounts, you need to be a pensioner registered with the Abu Dhabi Pensions Fund.

And there's plenty on offer. On the list are deals on sales, leasing and car insurance, telecommunications, flights, hotels, furniture, entertainment services, health care, beauty, restaurants, cafés, retail shops, jewellery, opticals, event management services and many others.

So, next time you head to companies such as Etisalat, Du, Etihad Airways, Al Hilal Takaful Insurance Company, Al Tayer Motors, Audi, Hertz and Alshaya Projects Group, you can look out for a deal that is covered by the programme.

Big names in the hotel industry such as Rotana Group, Jumeirah Group, Accor Group, Anantara Group, Starwood Group, Fairmont Group, Millennium Group and Al Diyar Group of hotels are also associated with the programme, offering you discounts on your send.

The discounts offered by the companies vary according to their terms and conditions. In assurance towards the quality of services provided, it was approved that the discounts should be appropriate and be able to compete in the general market.

For example, it was ascertained that the discounts offered by hotels are good in comparison to those in prominent e-booking sites.

In addition, it also aims to raise a sense of social responsibility for companies and institutions along with other sectors in the emirates, who could contribute in providing integrated and discounted service packages for pensioners. As many as 5,600 pensioners and 8,300 beneficiaries are expected to benefit from this programme.

The launch of the programme emerged after the fund had contacted more than 150 companies to provide pensioners with integrated packages which would include all the services and features they need.

So far, the fund has succeeded in signing cooperation contracts with a number of private sector companies and institutions. The programme looks forward to reach a greater number of companies, to offer more discounts, for a wide range of services or goods that interest pensioners.
