The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa) has commissioned the 132/11 kv Corniche substation with a power generation capacity of 120 megavolt-ampere.

The inauguration of the power plant falls within Fewa’s strategy to provide electricity and water services in emirates of Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Qaiwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. Fewa has already commissioned a series of power plants (Nuaimiya and Sawan in Ajman, Massafi in Central Region, and Rufa'a in Ras Al Khaimah) as part of a Dh1.4bn federal power network whose construction will take 22 months.

The Corniche substation is part of the first phase of distribution grid improvement in emirates of Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Qaiwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. It forms a key plank of FEWA's strategy to upgrade efficiency of power network and deliver uninterrupted electricity supplies to customers.
