No fines for delay during Eid: Ministry of Labour
The Ministry of Labour has assured private sector establishments it would not impose fines for a delay in card renewal or any other official dealings resulting from the closure of government offices during Eid Al Adha.
But the Ministry stressed that all outstanding transactions must be completed on Wednesday, when government offices reopen after the Eid holiday, warning that any delay after that day would result in penalties.
“The Ministry of Labour would like to assure the private sector that it would be ready to process their dealings just after the end of Eid Al Adha holiday without any fines,” a ministry official said, quoted by the semi official daily Alittihad.
“This decision stems from the Ministry’s concern for the interests of business owners and workers…the Ministry assures all of them that its electronic system will allow them to enter their dealings after the holiday without any delay fines.”
The official, who was not identified, said the decision affects issuance and renewal of labour cards, renewal of licences and all other transactions.
“The Ministry stresses that those institutions must have all their outstanding dealings processed on Wednesday, when all government departments resume work...failure to do so will result in imposing fines for the delay.”
