An Emirati died after suffering a gunshot wound while attending a wedding ceremony in Ras Al Khaimah.

Brigadier Mohammed Al Nubi Mohammed , Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Ras Al Khaimah Police, confirmed that the man, aged 37, suffered the gunshot injury at the marriage ceremony in the emirate.

Ambulance, rescue teams and competent authorities moved immediately to the scene and evacuated the man to nearest hospital, but he died later there.

Brigadier Al Nubi said that directives prohibiting and preventing the use of ‘live’ bullets at events and weddings are already in place.

He pointed to the efforts made by the Ras Al Khaimah Police in the past to spread awareness about the need to change the culture of using weapons with bullets at such events.

“Unfortunately, some people insist on the use of bullets at weddings,” he said.
