No need of health cards for emergency services

Health card is not mandatory to avail of emergency services at hospitals run by the Ministry of Health, Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Health told the Federal National Council.

In a written reply to a query raised by FNC member Khalifa bin Houaiden, the minister on Tuesday said such cases will be at the discretion of the physician in charge who will decide which is an emergency case.

The minister further said all other cases are treated as per regulations to avoid the exploitation of emergency health services at the ministry’s hospitals.
