The UAE will not record an unprecedented rise in temperatures in the coming few weeks as it will remain within the annual summer average of 44-49°C, the national centre for meteorology and seismology has said.

The centre was reacting to online reports that the UAE is on the verge of a very hot period, where temperatures will climb to unprecedented levels during July-August.

In a statement published in the Arabic language daily Al Bayan, it said the period between mid-July and mid-August normally witnesses the hottest days in the year.

“Temperatures during this period climb to their highest level in the year. But reports that temperatures will rise to unprecedented levels are incorrect. They will be within the annual summer average of 44-49°C,” it said.
