No speed limit change in RAK: Traffic Police

Ras Al Khaimah has no plans to change speed limits on its roads after the installation of 23 new speed cameras at some sites, the emirate’s Traffic Police chief has said.

Colonel Ali Saeed Al Alkeem said police had drawn up a plan to install 23 speed cameras on chosen sites as part of a strategy to curb reckless driving on roads.

He said reports circulated on local social networks that the emirate intends to modify speed limits on some roads are “incorrect and baseless".

“There is no plan to change the speed limit on the emirate’s roads in the next few days as it was erroneously reported,” he told the semi- official daily 'Al Ittihad'.

“The existing speed limits are suitable for the roads. When we have any plan to change the limit, we will officially announce it and install boards showing the new limit.”
