Noon work ban fines at Dh4.68m
Companies violating the summer noon work ban have been fined Dh4.68 million in line with a decision by the Ministry of Labour to penalise firms found to be forcing their labourers to work during that period.
The Ministry said just under 200 companies violated the three-hour ban, out of the more than 80,000 firms which were covered by the regulations.
Statistics by the Ministry showed the offenders included 85 general trade firms, 59 contracting companies and 36 auto accessories firms. The rest covered decorations, electrical appliances, transport, maintenance, hotels and restaurants.
The figures showed 80,259 companies out of 80,571 firms complied with the three-month noon work ban, which was enforced for the eighth year in 2013.
