One dead; Missing worker may have fled Sana fire: Police

Colonel Ali Al Ghanim, Director of Bur Dubai Police Station confirmed that the cause of the fire that broke out in the Sana Fashion warehouse in Al Quoz Industrial Area, is still unknown.

He said because of the smouldering remains of the gutted place, it has been difficult for experts from the police criminal lab to enter the warehouse

In exclusive statements to Emirates 24|7, Col Ali said the fire has resulted in the complete destruction of the warehouse. The roof has also collapsed.

He said the stocks of clothing and fashion items in the warehouse helped spread of fire.

Col Ali said the police has found the charred body of one of the workers. He said any talk about the other worker is as yet a conjecture and not a surety.

"Another factor may be that the missing worker had fled from the warehouse."

He stressed that the police can only say with surety if another worker had been burned in the fire only after warehouse had cooled, so police operatives can start combing the place.

Col Ali said Civil Defence men have completed their mission and are making additional efforts to cool the warehouse.
