A Dubai court has sentenced a Pakistani AC mechanic for raping and then blackmailing his employer’s pregnant wife.
The Dubai Court of First Instance on Monday sentenced the 29-year-old man identified as IKG to a year in jail in absentia since he did not attend any of the hearings. He will be deported on completion of the jail term.
The man who was employed by the victim’s husband in his electronics servicing centre will however have the chance to appeal the verdict.
The case dates back to December 12, 2008, the 27-year-old woman ASR was in her husband’s servicing centre where IKG was working.
After her husband AR stepped out for some work at around 2pm, she was left alone with the culprit who then went out to fetch some lunch and drinks.
She doesn’t remember anything after having the lunch which was obviously laced with something that made her lose consciousness. She woke up later feeling severe pain as she was bleeding.
Rushed to Al Wasl Hospital, she later lost her baby.
Although having realised the reason for the miscarriage, she kept her husband in the dark about the rape.
Subsequently, she even yielded to IKG’s blackmail demanding Dh10,000 to keep the secret of rape from her husband.
However, when the blackmail continued, she informed her husband and they alerted the police who picked up IKG.
As per prosecution records, the technician confessed of having sex with the housewife.
