Doctors at Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah removed an orange-size tumor from the head of an eight-year-old Bangladeshi boy, ending his suffering from years from severe headaches and amnesia.

The boy’s condition has stabilized following last week’s surgery and is recovering fast, said Dr Satesh Krishna, neurosurgery consultant at the hospital.

The boy was admitted to hospital last week after several visits and treatment sessions at local clinics failed to give him any relief, he said.

“The operation lasted around five hours and the tumor, with a size of an orange, was totally removed from the boy’s head,” he told Alittihad newspaper.

He said the boy would be discharged from hospital within two days and that he would undergo further treatment after tumor test results are released. “But he can now live a normal life without headaches,” he added.

He urged parents to watch their children for any frequent headaches or sleeplessness, adding that tumors can be treated if detected early.
