Over 99% of firms committed to mid-day break rule: MoL

Some 64,944 out of 65,10 companies complied with the mid-day break resolution from June 15 to September 15 while 166 had failed to do so, the Ministry of Labour (MoL) disclosed on Sunday.

Mubarak Saeed Al Dhaheri, MoL Undersecretary, said inspectors had conducted 20,672 to work sites to check their compliance with the ban of out-door work under direct sunlight from 12:30 to 3:00 pm.

''The high percentage of abidance which stood at 99.75 underscores the increasing level of awareness among employers at the local labour market of requirements of occupational health safety,'' he noted.

The Ministry, he added, had made extensive awareness campaigns to educate workers about the mid-day break ruler and its benefits to their health wellbeing and performance.
