Paid parking at Sharjah Central Souq now


Sharjah Municipality has announced that the car parking in the Central Souq – Al Souq Al Markazy – in Al Majaz area on Buhairah Corniche will be paid from today (Wednesday, June 1).

Around 680 parking lots are allocated for the public and 16 for the taxis, said Atef Al Zarouni, Director of the Public Parking at Sharjah Municipality, adding that the paid parking ticket machines have already been installed in the area, reported Arabic daily Al Khaleej.

He said vehicle owners can also obtain cards – annual, half-yearly or quarterly – from the Municipality to pay parking fees. Motorists can also pay for parking fee via SMS.

Sharjah Municipality organised an awareness campaign also throughout the week against hanging clothes and installing satellite dish antennas in the balconies.

Ali Obaid, Head of Public Relations at Sharjah Municipality, said awareness campaign was organised to maintain cleanliness and aesthetic appearance of the emirate.

He said a number of brochures and pamphlets were distributed in various languages and also placed 1,000 posters at the entrance of residential buildings.
