Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road in Sharjah will partly be closed this weekend and not re-open until Monday, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) announced.

The road closure will take place at the intersection with First Industrial Street and only include part of the road, while traffic heading towards Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road will remain unhampered.

Maintenance work on the road will start at 10pm on Thursday evening and continue for four days, said SRTA.

The three-lane street connecting Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Road and Al Ittihad Road in the industrial area of the emirate will see a revamp, the authority clarified.

“The maintenance work will include the re- asphalting of the bridge to raise its structural efficiency and facilitate the flow of traffic.”

Traffic will be redirected towards the intersection with First Industrial Street and the SRTA has urged the public to exercise caution, adhere to the rules of traffic and follow the signboards to use alternative roads such as University Street, in order to avoid traffic congestion.
