A passenger aboard a British Airways Dubai-bound flight had to be restrained following threatening behaviour, it is being claimed.

Flight BA105, which departed from London Heathrow on Tuesday evening, saw a passenger reportedly act out five hours after takeoff.

Eyewitness accounts on social media claim several crew members had to restrain the 'abusive' passenger, following which, the flight safely landed in Dubai.

In a series of tweets, concerned father Steve Penk described the incident, stating his daughter was on board the "most terrifying" flight with a threatening passenger.

He said: "‎It took five crew and the help of another large passenger to restrain him. They had to handcuff him and the cover him with a blanket."

Penk continued: "My daughter said the guy was literally screaming and shouting he couldn't breathe."

The concerned father later tweeted his daughter Natalie was safe and said the airline and crew swiftly handled the situation.

When 'Emirates 24|7' contacted British Airways over the incident, an airline spokesperson said in a statement: "Our customers and crews deserve to enjoy their flights, and not to suffer any form of abuse.

"This sort of behaviour will absolutely not be tolerated, and the appropriate action will always be taken.‎"
