‘Investigating juvenile crimes’ will be one of the topics that will be tackled during the conference of  the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) that will be held in Dubai from November 23 – 27.

Announcing the event, Attorney General Issam Isa Al Humaidan said that the UAE is giving great importance to the development of judicial and procedural practices and services by public prosecution. That is why it had won the approval of the international body to host the event.

“Our rulers are keen to place the UAE on the international map in all walks of life. And, this includes justice and prosecution as well. We joined IAP in 2008 with a determination to be effective members in the body. In 2009 we hosted the 6th IAP regional conference which was a success. We are looking for the participation of 170 countries and between 600 to 700 participants for the exchange of best practices,” he said.

“The whole world is looking to limit crimes. Crimes committed by juveniles grab the attention of the whole world as this age grope is the foundation of every nation. Investigating these crimes requires specialised staff and special divisions in public prosecutions. Understanding and appropriately handling juveniles would help limiting the numbers of crimes committed by juveniles,” noted Al Humaidan.

The Dubai Prosecution had gained the attention of the members of the IAP from the East and West in the deployment of smart applications and up-to-date technology during the regional conference.

“We are looking to share our experiences at the international level,” he added.

The conference will be held under the title ‘Best Practices in Public Prosecution Work”.

The conference will be tackle four topics: institutional development, training and developing public prosecutors, use of technology and investigating juvenile crimes, Al Humaidan noted.

The UAE is the first Arab country that will host the international gathering next November, he added.
