For those hoping to leave office early today, chances are that you may have to work normal hours.

Same with schools as they have not intimated to parents of any early closure. However, some schools are offering the option.

Unlike the previous downpour, when many firms in the country advised their staff to leave early, bosses are now waiting to see if the rains are just as heavy before deciding to call it a shorter day.

Many offices in Jebel Ali area that were impacted last week are functioning as usual today.

“It’s clear. I don’t see the office reducing the work hours today. But if it rains badly, just like the last time, there are chances we will be asked to leave earlier than usual,” a staff member in a company manufacturing paint chemicals in Jebel Ali Free Zone told Emirates 24|7.

Despite the rains starting in the early hours of the morning, the traffic situation is surprisingly smooth, and most employees are already at work today.

“Even though it’s been pouring since morning, the roads are clear. Surprisingly, it took me less time to commute on Sheikh Zayed Road,” said another employee working in a piping company in Jebel Ali.

A marketing employee in Abu Dhabi said offices are working normally. “There is no intimation that offices are closing early. We are working normal hours,” she said without wishing to be named.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology says rainfall is being recorded across most of UAE on Tuesday morning, with motorists being warned of low visibility conditions on the roads.

The NCMS has also issued a warning against towering and rainy clouds, associated with fresh to strong winds at times causing blowing dust and sand, with poor visibility.

Cloudy and partly cloudy weather in the afternoon will give way to rain in the evening and tomorrow as well. Rain clouds will increase over scattered areas on (Tuesday) early morning and even Wednesday, the UAE’s weather bureau has forecast.
